Pittsburgh: City’s plan to ban guns has NRA up in arms
A weapons plank in a raft of G-20 Summit legislation moving through Pittsburgh City Council drew fire from gun rights advocates.
The proposed ordinance would allow police to cite people for carrying a variety of items, from rotten eggs to 37 types of guns, if police perceive an intent to defy their orders.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is considering selling confiscated firearms to licensed gun dealers. Not the weapons that were used to commit a crime, those are kept as evidence for years or even decades, but the guns that are confiscated in a meth lab raid or other crimes where the gun wasn’t actually used.
Mississippi: Rights of hunters should be protected
In Mississippi, hunting is both a time honored tradition and a way of life for hundreds of thousands of residents. Like many states across the country, Mississippi is blessed with more than abundant wildlife. Sportsmen across our state also have access to publicly owned hunting land that is second to none. There are approximately two million acres open to public hunting in Mississippi, a large portion of which is controlled by the federal government.
It was with that fact in mind that I recently cosponsored bipartisan legislation to help protect the rights of Mississippi’s sportsmen.
